Days 1-4 | Bogotá & the Páramo
Our journey begins in Bogotá, nestled at 2,700 meters (8,860 ft) above sea level. As we acclimate to the altitude, we'll explore the Bogotá Botanical Garden, visit Plaza Samper Mendoza (Bogotá's traditional herbal market), and be introduced to the ancestral tradition of the coca leaf.
One highlight of this first chapter is a visit to the paramo, a rare high-altitude ecosystem found almost exclusively in the Northern Andes. Home to the iconic frailejón (Espeletia spp.), the paramo is one of the world's most important water-producing landscapes and a sanctuary of unique biodiversity.
Days 4-10 | Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta
Our second chapter takes us to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, known by its Indigenous peoples as the Heart of the World. This sacred territory is home to the Kogui, Arhuaco, Wiwa, and Kankuamo peoples.
Together, we'll learn from Indigenous elders and community members through traditional practices, forest walks, and conversations that deepen our understanding of the relationship between people, plants, and the living world.
Along forest trails, we'll discover medicinal plants, deepen our understanding of the traditional uses of the coca leaf and other native species, and experience the extraordinary landscapes of the Sierra, where rainforest, rivers, waterfalls, and the Caribbean Sea converge.

We intentionally keep our circles small, offering only 9 spots for participants. We do this to create a deeply intimate space, allowing for true, meaningful connections with each other, the local communities, and the land throughout our entire journey.
Our journey will take us through beautiful, diverse landscapes (including mountain trails, hills, waterfalls, rivers, and beach). Because of this, the trip involves moderate walking and hiking.
To fully enjoy the experience, you should feel comfortable walking on uneven terrain and natural paths for extended periods. Since we will be visiting the high-altitude Páramos, we will keep a gentle, intentional pace so everyone can acclimate comfortably.

While we will be traveling during Colombia's summer season, when the weather is typically drier and sunnier, the mountains are always beautifully unpredictable. We will experience two completely different climate zones.
Andean Páramos: Expect damp, chilly, and windy alpine weather, with temperatures ranging from 5°C to 12°C (40°F–54°F). You will need warm layers, a beanie, and a reliable waterproof jacket.
Sierra Nevada: Expect warm, humid, tropical weather averaging 25°C to 30°C (77°F–86°F). Pack lightweight, breathable clothing, sun protection, a swimsuit, and bug spray.
Footwear: Sturdy, broken-in hiking shoes or trail runners with excellent grip are essential for the uneven and muddy terrain.

We deeply encourage you to use these moments to connect with the landscape in your own personal way, whether that is through journaling, sketching, photography, or simply sitting in quiet contemplation with the land.
